Monster Trucks Invade Rocky Mountains

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A packed house witnessed Jimmy Creten, in the Yellow Bounty Hunter, claim both the figure-8 racing trophy and the wheelie contest trophy at Rocky Mountain Raceways’ 18th annual Maverik Clash of the Titans monster truck event on Saturday.

Creten bested Darron Schnell in the Vi-Cor BIGFOOT during the final round. He then went on to sweep the wheelie contest.

In addition to high-flying monster truck racing, RMR Oval Racing included the Comcast Super Stocks and ASA Pro Trucks. Tim Fahrner took home the Comcast Super Stock win after a very lively 30-lap main. Fahrner, who was also the fast qualifier, started in the seventh position and quickly made his way to the front.

As Fahrner encountered front runners, Al Jones and Daniel Calligaro, he passed Jones on the outside and then dove inside for a quick pass in front of Calligaro for the lead. Fahrner set his sights on leader, Travis Walker and was able to pass on a restart with another inside dive. Fahrner finished ahead of Walker in second, Jim Ford in third, Jones in fourth, and Nate Walker in fifth.

Drew Reitsma campaigned his ASA Pro Truck to victory circle after a close 40-lap main. With just seven laps to go, Reitsma secured the lead over Kevan Larson, who led the majority of the race. Larson didn’t relinquish his lead easily, attempting to regain the top spot till the very end. Larson finished in a close second, followed by Daniel Shirley in third, Scott Luttmer in fourth, and Johnny Pierre in fifth.
