DAVENPORT, Iowa — Summer-like weather greeted racers and fans alike at the Davenport Speedway Friday.
Matt Ryan captured his second Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature of the season. Tim Simpson and Andy Nezworski each had a shot at the lead before Ryan grabbed the point on lap four. Matt would lead the remaing laps for the win. Nezworski held on for second with Rob Toland coming in third. Chuck Hanna and Tim Simpson completed the first five.
Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified action saw Mitch Morris take his first feature win of the season. Morris took the lead after a lap four restart. Rob Toland drove to a second-place finish followed by Jason Pershy, Bob Dominacki, and Greg Durbin, in that order.
Jeff Struck Jr. returned to form in Koehler Electric Street Stocks. Struck passed Rob Nylin after a lap eleven restart to take his fifth feature win of the season. Jesse Owen followed Struck to finish second. Early race leader Rob Nylin held on for third. Tony VonDresky and Gene Ehlers were fourth and fifth, respectively
Yellow flags filled the air during the Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMod main. When the race was finally called, Keith Blum was headed to victory lane. This was his second win of the season. Brandon Setser was scored in second with Tony Olson third. Nick Groth took fourth with Tyler Soppe fifth.
The American Iron Racing Series made its second visit to the racetrack this season, with a nice field of cars on hand. The AIRS feature was again dominated by Tim Arp. Arp’s white Mustang got out front early and led the rest of the way to the checkers. Bart Miller finished second with Dan Kessler third.
