WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Lynn Hardy piloted both his CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Model and Maverik Modified to victory circle at Rocky Mountain Raceways’ Firecracker Frenzy on Saturday.
A packed house watched some of the best racing all season as the CarbonX RMCS hit the America First Credit Union Super Oval for a 100-lap main event.
Hardy claimed fast qualifying time for the CarbonX RMCS and then followed it up with a second place heat race finish. The CarbonX RMCS inverts up to the top 20 from qualifying putting the fast qualifiers at the back to start each race—a racing format not found in any other regional touring series around the country.
Starting in the 11th position, Hardy took the lead by lap 16 and never looked back. Eric Rhead and Jeff Hillock gave Hardy a run for position, but weren’t able to make a pass stick. The three Utah drivers took home the podium finishes with Rhead finishing in second and Hillock in third.
Hardy gave his fans another reason to cheer when he stepped into his Maverik Modified. Hardy entered the 50-lap Maverik Modified main event with a heat race win already under his belt. Hardy started in the eighth position and held the lead by lap 11. Hardy led the field to green. Nick Parker finished in second and Tyler Whetstone finished in third.
Additional RMR Oval Racing Series’ winners included Corey Walker (Figure-8 Cars) and Train Six Feet Under (Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains.)
