Two Canadian Tracks Partner For Pro Stock Series

FREDERICTON, N.B. – Officials from both Speedway 660 and Petty Int’l Raceway have announced a partnership that will see their remaining extended-distance Pro Stock races come together to form a mini series.

The tracks will reward drivers who compete in the four marquee, standalone events, with the top three in overall points between the four races receiving cash bonuses.

Several contingency and vendor draws will also be made over the four events.

Each venue will host two of the four races on the series. The first of four races will take place on Aug. 8 at Speedway 660 with the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150.

The next week, Petty Int’l Raceway will host the second event with a 150-lap feature as a part of the 56th River Glade International. The focus will then shift to Speed Weekend and the 20th annual Pro Stock 250 on Sunday, Sept. 6.

The last of the four races will be the 200-lap Mike Stevens Memorial at Petty on Sept. 19.

In addition to the $5,000 in purse money split between the top three in championship points after the four races ($2,500 to the champion, $1,500 to second, and $1,000 to third), a handful of vendor draws will be made throughout the series.

At each race, a random draw will be made at the drivers meeting for a set of four Hoosier Racing Tires from Bicknell Racing Products. Following the completion of the fourth race, another draw will be made for an ARBodies race car body, courtesy of Lonnie Sommerville Racing, for teams who have competed in all four events.

When adding cash and prizes together, over $10,000 in added value is on the line, in addition to individual race purses.

“With the roller coaster of a year 2020 has been, we’re excited to partner with Wayne and Ellen Smith to get this series going,” said Max Roy of Speedway 660. “Some of these teams have been itching to get racing and now we’re able to have a series with some great prizes for them.”

With the two tracks working together, the ultimate goal is to strengthen the motorsports ties throughout the province and within the Maritimes, between both venues and racers.

“We are pleased to be working together with Speedway 660 on this four race Pro Stock deal,” said Wayne Smith of Petty Int’l Raceway. “I think this is going to help the racing industry in New Brunswick as a whole. Hopefully it will bring more cars to both tracks. We hope to see cars at Petty Raceway that we might not usually see here and we hope some of our regulars will visit Speedway 660. I would like to thank Bicknell Racing Products and Lonnie Sommerville Racing for sponsoring this series, it means a lot to Petty Int’l Raceway.

“Let’s make this work; we’ll see the Pro Stock teams and drivers next weekend.”

The Saturday, Aug. 8 card at Speedway 660 will feature the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 for the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stocks, the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and a stop by the Atlantic Modified Tour.

The DMR Auto Street Stock division takes the spotlight Sunday, Aug. 9 with a 75-lap feature presented by Urquhart Construction. The Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman will play support on Sunday.
