BREWERTON, N.Y. — The first SUNY Canton Speedweek featuring the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints, plus the Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Shootout made a stop at the Brewerton Speedway on July 4th.

With 39 sprint cars in the pits, it was modified regular Stewart Friesen who took the checkered flag in the 25-lap event.

Friesen ran down Lance Yonge in traffic on lap 13 and stormed to the lead.

Over the remaining laps Friesen used his modified experience at the speedway to pull away for the victory by over a straightaway.

Lance Yonge, Michael Parent, Bryan Howland and Shawn Donath came home second through fifth.

“JZ, (Jessica Zemken) gave me some pointers and we talked about how we were going to race this race,” said Friesen. “The track was typical Brewerton. Doug (Emery) made great adjustments to the car. I really got to thank Doug and Barb for giving me this chance to drive for them tonight, I really appreciate it.”

Rocky Warner won the sportsman feature.
