Ohsweken Speedway Reveals Event Calendar

OHSWEKEN, Ontario – Ohsweken Speedway officials have released the schedule for this season, though whether or not the races on the schedule will happen is yet to be determined.

Speedway management is working closely with the COVID-19 emergency control group to determine policies, procedures and the potential to bring racing back to the popular dirt track for the first time since 2019.

“Our priority is the safety of the residents of Six Nations, our fans, and competitors,” said Ohsweken Speedway Manager Clinton Geoffrey. “We are committed to getting back on track, but we will only do so when the proper authorities are satisfied we can do it safely. We are confident that we can put proper procedures in place to get us back on the track as soon as the pandemic situation will allow.”

Ohsweken Speedway had a blockbuster schedule released for its 25th anniversary in 2020 including the debut of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series among other spectacular events, but the gates to the speedway remained closed all year with the arrival of COVID-19.

“We are releasing an equally exciting schedule for our second attempt at the 25th anniversary season,” said Geoffrey. “We will continue coordinating with the emergency control group to see when it can be implemented.”

Speedway management plans to make announcements on the first day of each month to update the return to racing status. While race teams and race fans anxiously await their opportunity to return to their Friday night home the most anxious of all is track owner Glenn Styres.

Styres never stopped making improvements at the speedway, with various construction projects ongoing over the last year. He is eager to show them off and welcome both racers and fans.

“The pandemic has been hard on so many people within both the Six Nations community and our racing community,” said Styres. “We remain passionate and focused on delivering an exciting product. We will continue to work with Six Nations Emergency Control Group to put safety first as we attempt to get back to racing in 2021.”
