MALTA, N.Y. — It was a clean sweep for the Brett Hearn team Friday night at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway, as Hearn ran down Mark Kislowski to claim his 107th modified feature while his protégée, Matt Pappa, started the program off by winning the held over novice feature.
This win promoted him to the sportsman class, where he promptly won his heat and his first sportsman feature.
Hearn moved steadily forward from 13th while polesitter Floyd Billington led easily in the early going, then dueled with Kislowski after a lap-10 yellow erased his big lead. Kislowski took command on lap 15 but a yellow on the next lap brought a restart that saw Hearn shoot to second on the green. Getting the lead was not easy, however, and it took the rim-riding veteran until lap 24 to put Kislowski away.
Kislowski managed to get back alongside Hearn a few times but never got the lead back and they finished that way, with Jeff Trombley, Kenny Tremont Jr., Stewart Friesen, Neil Stratton, Matt DeLorenzo and Ronnie Johnson trailing.
Rob Yetman garnered his seventh pro stock main after a fierce battle with eventual runner-up Brandon Emigh while Cody Bleau and Robert Bublak Jr. chased rookie Pappa to the stripe in the sportsman finale.
