Fonda Speedway Officials Looking Ahead To New Year

FONDA, N.Y. – After a challenging season due to COVID-19 regulations in New York, Fonda Speedway is already focused on next season.

The BD Motorsports Media LLC management team returns for its third season at the historic Track of Champions half-mile oval. The first on-track activity of ’21 is planned for Saturday, April 10 with an Open Practice session.

The famed Fonda 200 weekend returns to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Sept. 16-18, offering $53,000 to the race winner of the Modified event. Keep posted for further information on this event.

American Racer, through distributor Lias Tire of Indiana, Pa., and Sunoco Race Fuels, distributed by Insinger Performance of Dushore, Pa., return as the official tire and fuel suppliers for the speedway.

Once again, Saturday night racing will be headlined by the Modified division competing for a minimum of $2,400 to win, $500 for 10th and $250 to take the green flag.

An adjustment for next year sees all big- and small-block engines with a minimum weight of 2,400 lbs. moving the speedway in line with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco North Region and six other Empire State tracks (Accord, Afton, Five Mile Point, Outlaw, Thunder Mountain and Woodhull). PA/NJ/DIRTcar-legal spec engines (open carburetor, no rev limiter) weigh 2,300 lbs. CT-525 engines weigh 2,300 lbs. and W-16 engines weigh 2,250 lbs. for ’21.

Other weekly divisions will include the Crate 602 Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Limited Sportsman and Four Cylinder Cruisers.

The Mohawk Vintage Dirt Modified Series will return for monthly visits during the campaign.

The Street Stock division will no longer compete on a regular basis at Fonda Speedway. However, there is the potential of selected special events on non-conflicting dates with other area speedways.

The Fonda Speedway point fund will be distributed on the week of Dec. 7. A trophy presentation is planned for the speedway in the spring.
