Date Set For 2020 Fonda 200

FONDA, N.Y. – Fonda Speedway officials have announced the Fonda 200, which returned this year for the first time in nearly two decades, will again be on the track’s schedule next season.

The Fonda 200 returned in September as a three-day racing festival highlighted by the $53,000-to-win, 200-lap big-block/small-block modified event.

For 2020, the Fonda 200 weekend is back and is even more lucrative.

Fonda Speedway’s BD Motorsports Media LLC management team has announced the 2020 edition of the 200 weekend will take place on Sept. 17-19.

Once again, the Sunoco Modifieds will race 200 laps for $53,000-plus to win. The Fonda 200 will offer $1,000 to take the green flag for each of its 40 starters, pushing the total pay structure to more than $130,000 prior to special awards and bonuses.

“We were thrilled with the energy, buzz and excitement the 200 brought to Fonda Speedway last season,” Fonda promoter Brett Deyo said. “Our entire team stepped up to the plate and put together a weekend fans are still talking about.

“This season, we are going even bigger by increasing the start money to $1,000. With the boosted payout and a complete resurfacing of the track with new clay, this event should be even more attractive and attainable to Modified competitors around the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.”

The weekend schedule of events will be similar to the ’19 edition.

Thursday night (Sept. 17) will be reserved for trailer and camper parking with open practice for teams on the half-mile track.

On Friday (Sept. 18), Sunoco Modifieds will take part in 15-lap qualifying events. Also on the docket: CRSA Sprint Cars, Pro Stocks, Street Stocks and Four Cylinder Cruisers.

Saturday (Sept. 19) is reserved for Crate 602 Sportsman, Sunoco Modified Last Chance events and the 200.

Stewart Friesen put his name on the Fonda 200 win list with his conquest in last September’s event. Friesen crossed the Sunoco checkered flags ahead of track champion Rocky Warner, Mike Mahaney, Billy Decker and Brett Hearn.
