Collins Captures SpeedWeekend Sportsman Classic

GEARY, New Brunswick – Curtis Collins raced to the biggest win of his career on Saturday evening at Speedway 660, winning the Martin’s Home Heating 100 for the sportsman class to kick off SpeedWeekend.

Brady Creamer finished second while Laurie Cormier brought home another SpeedWeekend podium finish by holding off Devin Snell in the final laps. Luc Bourgeois finished in fifth place in the 20-car field.

Collins raced a throwback scheme on his No. 27 Pub’s Drive Thru Bottle Exchange Chevrolet on Saturday evening, honoring Bill Sommerville’s 1994 MASCAR race car.

Richard Atkinson, Snell and Ryan Raynes took home heat race wins. Raynes was among those swept up in a lap 57 wreck in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100 that sidelined seven contenders just past the halfway point. The Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100 took one hour, 28 minutes to complete.

Braden Langille raced to his sixth Maritime League of Legends Tour victory in nine races by taking the INEX National Qualifier at Speedway 660. Langille held serve during the final restart with 11 to go after Craig MacDonald blew a motor to trigger the yellow. Kody Quinn was second with Shelby Baker third in the 19 car field.

Dave Matthews took home his third straight Pub’s Drive Thru Bottle Exchange 50 for the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Matthews held off challenges from Cody Byrne early and fended off Jesse Deveau and Mike Edwards late to take home the victory.

The Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast Part I was won by Colton Noble. Noble took the lead from Dylan Dowe and held off a hard charging Chisholm to take the win.
