W. LEBANON, N.Y. — Andy Bachetti notched his second consecutive win in Saturday night’s 30-lap DIRT Modified feature at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, moving the Massachusetts star to within two of arch rival Brett Hearn’s 2013 total.
Hearn had looked to be a factor early on but drew a caution with a flat tire after getting drilled in a backstretch scramble as the field closed up for a restart.
Paul Girardi got the drop on front-row companion Denny Soltis on the initial green, only to loop it in front of the field as they hit turn three of the high-banked half-mile. That moved the 13th starting Bachetti up a couple of rows for the restart and by the caution for Hearn’s tire and the scramble it triggered on lap four, he was already fifth.
Bachetti ran down Robbie Pitcher, who had taken command after Girardi’s misfire, on lap five. He finally got by on lap 11 and drove off into the night to win by over a straightaway. Meanwhile, Hearn had tagged the field and begun the long climb back to the lead pack. At the checkers, he was fifth behind Bachetti, Pitcher, an impressive Kyle Sheldon and Gilardi. Mark Flach Jr., Donnie Corellis, J.R. Heffner, Eddie Marshall and Keith Flach trailed.
Steve Miller claimed the companion small-block feature with Jason Casey home first in the pro stocks.
