Arbuthnot Continues Brockville Success

BROCKVILLE, Ontario – Ryan Arbuthnot picked up his third victory in four attempts in 1000 Islands RV 358 Modified competition Saturday at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

At the start of the 30-lap 1000 Islands RV 358 Modified feature it was Chris Herbison leading the opening laps with Steve Barber, Ryan Arbuthnot, Aaron Pugh and Tim Fuller completing the top-five in the early going.

Herbison had the fastest car in the opening laps and was on the charge. Behind him Arbuthnot was on his way from ninth on the grid and eventually moved into second by lap 10, but still had work to do to catch the leader.

Behind the top-two, Tim Fuller would make his march forward also as he jumped to third on lap 11, but had some work to do to catch the top two drivers who were more than a straightaway ahead.

At the halfway point Arbuthnot had caught Herbison and was on the charge using the outside groove. On lap 16 Arbuthnot took over the lead from Herbison as Fuller continued to chip away at the deficit in the third spot.

It appeared the race would go green to checkered, but on lap 27 the caution flag waved for Bryan Rogers, who slowed to a stop in turn one.

On the final restart Arbuthnot retain the lead as Fuller made his move for second and battled with Herbison. On this night nobody was stopping Arbuthnot as he cruised to his third win of the year. Herbison held on for second with Fuller, Kyle Dingwall and Tristan Draper completing the top-five.

Other winners Saturday at Brockville included Johnathon Ferguson (Sportsman), Tyler Stewart (Rookie Sportsman) and Tyler Bushey (Street Stock). Jared Galway and Andrew Leroux split a pair of Mini Stock features.
