Muggy Weather Can’t Slow Eagle Valley Racers


Another yellow curtailed a restart, but the second attempt found several cars exploring the groove that Stender had introduced. Soon, Eric Olson challenged for the lead and gained it briefly but Richards fought back. Shane Kisling entered the fight for second, and then the lead. However, Richards earned the point again and went on to win the feature. The top five included Olson, Kisling, Stender, and Jesse Redetzke as the finished by running the high line, essentially nose to tail. The remainder of the field was left far behind.

Jake Stai and Nathan Thums paced the Midwest Modified field to the green for their feature event as Stai took the early lead. Brandon Lofgren brought out the yellow and reset the field with Josh Smith taking the lead on the restart. A Jason Richardson caution brought the field together once again and allowed Stai to regain the point.

However, on the restart, Smith again proved his dominance and took the lead. Two more yellows reset the field for the final race to the finish. At the restart, ninth starting Shane Halopka had made it to fifth. The last three laps found Halopka in the high groove and closing quickly for the lead. He pulled even in turn four and his high side momentum carried him to the win by the slimmest of margins. Smith finished a photo finish second place as Cory Crapser, Jake Smith, and Travis Anderson rounding out the top five.

The Street Stock feature featured Travis Hazelton and Kolby Keihl in the front row with Hazelton leading the first circuit. Soon however, Ron Hanestad moved into the lead in the high groove and Adam Soltis took over second on the low side. Hanestad capped his amazing week since bringing out a “new” old car with another feature win.He had finished second twice and won three features in five races during the holiday weekend. Cody Kummer made a late charge to finish second, followed by Hazelton, Soltis, and Danny Richards.

Talon Laabs was flanked by Clay Potaczek at the beginning of the Pure Stock feature with Laabs grabbing the lead as Pat Smith and George Richards battled for second. After a series of cautions, the race settled in and went green to the finish with Richards earning the win, followed by Laabs, Dalton Hazelton, Pat Smith, and Jay Barnier, Jr.

The EVS Hornets were paced by heat winner Brent Voeltz and Buddy Hanestad with Voeltz taking the lead and never looking back. Voeltz was followed to the stripe by Hanestad, Kassey Gross, Scott Westaby, and Armond Love rounding out the top five.
