STEWART, Ohio – Skyline Speedway will open its 2013 racing season on April 19, featuring the Octane Race Products AMRA Modifieds, the Kryptonite Race Cars AMRA Late Models and Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association Outlaw 410 sprint cars.
Skyline Speedway and the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Ass’n (OVSCA) held its annual awards banquet last fall at the Comfort Inn in Mineral Wells, W.Va., where fans, drivers, crews, owners and families were treated to a fine dinner and an elaborate awards fete. For Skyline Speedway drivers, over $15,000 in cash and prizes were awarded at the fourth annual event under Billy Jarrell’s ownership.
The OVSCA portion of the banquet was the third for the three-year-old Hoosier Tire sprint car organization, that crowned Marietta, Ohio, Dave Dickson as its champion. Another $15,000 in prizes and contingencies went to the top 15 in that organization.
Another great point fund, one of the richest west of the Mississippi, will be in store for drivers during the 2013 campaign. Track owner Billy Jarrell traditionally awards each championship driver a new chassis for their efforts in each division. 2012 Champs were Jimmy Stinson, Vandalia, Ohio-Sprints; Chris Garnes, Evans, WV-Late Models; and Jeremy Berwanger, Murray City, Ohio-Modifieds. WRA Mini Wedge driver Skylar Zimmerman was the 2012 champ in that division.
