McKinney Claims Shadyhill Mystery Prize

MEDARYVILLE, Ind. – Mike McKinney topped the annual running of the Mystery 100 for modifieds Saturday night at Shadyhill Speedway, earning a payout of $7,000.

The prize for the Mystery 100, which was $5,000 in 2017 and $6,000 in 2018, was kept a closely guarded secret until after the race, when McKinney was informed of his prize by track owner Billy Alger.

Twenty modifieds started the race according to qualifying times and a few started at the tail after qualifying through a consolation event. The first 50 laps were run, followed by a 15-minute break prior to the final 50 laps.

McKinney pretty much stayed ahead of the next four finishers throughout the race and showed no signs of letting up. Brad DeYoung got alongside McKinney at one point, but couldn’t complete the pass and settled for second.

Nick Allen, Chad Bauer and Jamie Lomax rounded out the top five.

Two other feature race were run, with Torin Mettille taking home the winner’s trophy in the Pro Late Model feature. Owen Wells on the stock car feature to also lock up the track championship in that class.
