CLERMONT, Ind. — Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis released the schedule for next season both the drag strip and the oval.
“We are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2013 season and another year of racing at Lucas Oil Raceway,” said Wes Collier, general manager, Lucas Oil Raceway. “Each season at this storied facility is full of treasured memories of thrilling racing and we are sure this year will again be another banner season at Lucas Oil Raceway.”
The highlight of the season will be the NHRA U.S. Nationals featuring the Mello Yello Drag Racing series as they return to the track for their annual Labor Day weekend visit. Nearly 1,000 racers will be looking to put their names in the history books as the event will kick off on Aug. 28 and conclude on Sept. 2.
Other showcase events include the return of the JEGS U.S. Open Bracket Championship on June 20-23, Monster Mopar on June 28-30 and the 12th annual FuelLab NMCA World Series Street Finals on Oct. 11-13.
The bracket series will compete at the track ten times during the course of the season with King of the Track, Junior Dragster Challenge and National Dragster Challenge taking place during the year. Wild Wednesday which features street legal racing and slick tire test and tunes will take place from April through October.
The oval will see action with the yearly visits from some of the finest open wheel racers in the country race on the .686-mile oval as the USAC Midgets and Silver Crown series come to the track. The Night Before the 500 May 25 is a month of May tradition and a USAC doubleheader featuring midgets and Silver Crown cars is set July 27.
The CRA (Sept. 22) and Must See Racing Winged Sprints (June 29) will also run on a track that features the tightest racing in the state in a fan friendly and intimate setting.
