Long Brothers Put On A Show At 141

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – In a family friendly sport, nothing was as true for the top two finishers in the IMCA Sportmod feature Saturday at 141 Speedway.

Older brother Josh Long beat younger sibling Brandon to the finish line for the feature win.

Other winners included Mitch McGrath (IMCA Modifieds), Devin Snellenberger (IMCA Stockcars), Kraig Koehler (Street Stocks), Shawn Schmitt (Grand Nationals) and Brian Johnson (4 Cylinders).

Chad Ninmer picked up the Grand National heat race win and jumped out early in the feature. Ninmer would stay working the bottom with the battle continuing for second between Kevin Naidl and Shawn Schmitt. Schmitt would eventually out duel Naidl for the runner up spot and focus on Ninmer. He would take control of the lead with three laps remaining and pick up his first win of the season. Naidl would keep the point lead with a late pass on Ninmer for second. Greg Haese and Dave Gauger rounded out the field. The race went caution free.

Carl Slack opened up the Street Stock feature as the man in charge but quickly fell victim to Justin Mahlberg. Mahlberg would lead lap two until spinning by himself. Several cautions involving many of the division leaders would follow. Defending champion Kraig Koehler would eventually inherit the lead after all the carnage and set sail.

Koehler would pull away from the field and pick up his first feature win of the season and cut into the point lead. Jeff Jungwirth finished second in his first run of the season. Josh Mcdonald and Tony Everard finished third and fourth. Mahlberg came home with a strong fifth place finish after being in an early caution.
