Crane Ends Drought With Wilmot Wingless Triumph

WILMOT, Wis. – Derek Crane scored his first Autometer/Brewington Electric Wisconsin Wingless Sprint victory in more than three years Saturday night at Wilmot Raceway.

Crane, running second at the time, took over the lead when race leader Jimmy Sivia ended up going over the turn three berm to bring out a caution  Sivia retired from the event.

Crane went on to his first Wilmot main event win since June of 2017 and the second of his career. Jordan Paulsen took second, outdueling Scott Hatton, who finished third.

Nick Petska scored his first IRA Lightning Sprint feature win after coming out of retirement after four seasons while competing in wingless sprints.

“I dedicate the win to my Uncle Ray who passed away earlier this year,” said an emotional Petska, who is a past Lightning Sprint champion.

Petska took the lead on lap six when something broke in the drivetrain of C.J. Malueg’s car.  Petska held off second place Ion Stear oby less than a car length at the checkered.  Mike Neau finished third.

In other action, Chris Carlson won his second modified feature at Wilmot this season. Nick Simons was second with Mike Simons third. Cody Potter scored his third street stock feature win of the season.
