MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Williams Grove Speedway will present 18 events during the 2013 Saturday Night Series. The series will feature the Super Sportsman, 358 Late Models, and Street Stocks and begin on April 20.
The 2013 Saturday Night Series will present those three divisions for 17 of the 18 shows. The final race of the season, on Sept. 6, will feature the Super Sportsman championship race along with a topless race for the 358 Late Models and a visit by the ARDC Midgets.
The popular five-dollar admission charge will return in 2013. All adults entering the speedway grounds will only be charged $5. The final race of the season will not be a $5 event, with the ticket cost for that race being announced later.
The biggest race of the 2013 season will be the Super Sportsman Firecracker 40, scheduled for July 6. Speedway management have confirmed the race will pay $3,000 to win and all other positions will receive a $200 increase in pay.
There will also be several changes this year. There will be a printed racing program to provide current information to the Saturday night fans. The Super Sportsman drivers will have a new handicapping system this year and the drivers will draw for their qualifying races. The features will line up by driver points.
The Super Sportsman, as in the past, will race at Williams Grove Speedway on Saturday. They will also travel to other local speedways. This year the Super Sportsman point title will end at Williams Grove. Last year the title race was at another local speedway; that will not occur this year or in the future.
Blazer’s Body Shop will return as the sponsor of the Super Sportsman. The Newville Construction Services will be back as the Street Stock sponsor. Speedway management is seeking a new sponsor for the 358 Late Models.
