BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. – Danny Snyder wheeled his own Ford Property Maintenance sponsored No. 4s Late Model to victory in the Thomas Hartnett Thrivent Financial Firecracker 40 Late Model race at Grandview Speedway Saturday night, earning $2,100 for his winning efforts.
It was his second win in as many years in the biggest event of the season for the Late Models. Craig VonDohren won the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen 358 Modified feature race as part of the Saturday night action that also included a Fireworks display, bicycle giveaway and NASCAR Lionel train giveaway.
Snyder followed Lou Egrie on the first lap of the 40-lapper and then quickly charged to the front on the second circuit of the third-mile banked clay track. At 10 laps it was Snyder holding on to the top spot over hard charging Sam Schlosberg.
Snyder was able to hold off the challenge of Schlosberg for the remainder of the race to pick up the win, his second of the season. Schlosberg finished second followed by Jason Miller, point leader and champion Chuck Schutz and Sean Merkel.
Bobby Gunther Walsh was in front of the 28 car starting field for the 30-lap Modified feature. Mike Laise took the lead with Addison Meitzler followed by his father Terry Meitzler in third. With 15 laps in the record book Terry Meitzler took the lead with Jon Kellner Sr. pressuring.
On the 21st circuit Kellner took the top spot with Craig VonDohren, who had started in 20th, close behind. Just three laps later VonDohren put the Kauffman’s BBQ Chicken No. 1c in front and held the top spot until the finish picking up $2750 in cash plus a VP Race Fuels certificate for $150 in racing gasoline.
Second spot went to Jon Kellner,Sr. followed closely by Terry Meitzler, John Willman and Ryan Grim.
