Shaffer Sprints To Victory At Tri-City

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Tim Shaffer powered to victory in Sunday’s 410 sprint car feature at Tri-City Raceway Park.

A.J. Flick led the sprint car feature to the green flag. Flick grabbed the early and made some bold moves in lapped traffic to maintain the top spot.

Lee Jacobs was gaining on the leader during the middle stages of the event. Jacobs, who started the event in third, eventually took the lead from Flick and pulled away from the pack until multiple late-race caution flags forced restarts.

After taking the green flag in fifth position, Shaffer became Jacobs’ challenger. After Jacobs outran Shaffer on two restarts, Shaffer made a turn-two pass stick to become the third and final leader of the event with eight laps left.

However, another restart gave Jacobs one final opportunity to return to the lead with two laps to go. Shaffer survived Jacobs’ challenge and steered his Grove Racing No. 28 to his first win of the year.

“This place was closed when I started my career, so I don’t have many races on this place,” said Shaffer. “It’s great to be close to home and have an opportunity to race sprint cars here.”

Jacobs placed second, ahead of Flick, Dan Shetler and Jack Sodeman Jr.

Kyle Fink won the 358 modified feature while Josh Seippel was the winner in the pro stock class.
