New Jersey Motorsports Coalition Formed

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – The U.S. Motorsports Ass’n has announced the formation of the New Jersey Motorsports Coalition, which will focus on the safe resumption of motorsports across the state.

The coalition brings together the state’s racetracks, sanctioning organizations, and related businesses impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown.

The N.J. Motorsports Coalition is on a mission to re-open racing, responsibly. The group is submitting a letter to Governor Phil Murphy requesting participation in the newly formed commission on reopening New Jersey’s economy.  The coalition is also making a cohesive effort to implement health guidelines and social distancing requirements as they reopen.

Racing plays a vital role in sparking the return of tourism, mostly to rural communities, who are starving for economic stimulus.  Racetracks have space and infrastructure that can be used as a learning site for all community events and mass gatherings to follow.  Sporting events, fairs, festivals, and other outdoor recreation can learn from the racetrack as New Jersey looks towards a reopening plan.

“We all agree that racing has a huge responsibility in making a safe return.  This coalition is focused on doing things right, while also having a voice in the process of reopening,” said Brad Scott, President & COO of New Jersey Motorsports Park, and Chairman of N.J. Motorsports Coalition.  “Local race events generate new revenue and spending that otherwise would not exist, which is important to restarting our economy.”
