PORT ROYAL, Pa. - Chad Layton won his third sprint car feature of the year Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway, taking $3,200 for the victory while Coleby Frye took the late model championship event worth $2,000.
Tim Krape was victorious in the pro stock main.
Layton thwarted an attack by Pat Cannon in his heat race to ride home third and when a 12 came up for feature inversion that finish placed him on the pole of the 25-lapper.
The first 23 laps of the sprint main went non-stop with fourth starter Mike Wagner keeping pace with Layton through traffic after he moved into the spot on the seventh tour.
Wagner was able to run both sides of the speedway as opposed to Layton, who seemed to lose his momentum every time he moved off of the top groove.
And that allowed Wagner to keep Layton close as the leaders worked traffic.
But all that traffic went away when the only caution flag of the race came out with two laps to go for a stopped Mark Bitner on the frontstretch.
Wagner took a look underneath Layton for the lead on the restart but clear track found Layton zipping away to the victory, the 11th of his career at the Juniata County oval.
