MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Rick Lafferty scored the Williams Grove Speedway 410 sprint car feature on Friday night, taking $3,600 for the win plus $150 in lap money.
In the 358 sprint main, Kevin Nouse scored for the sixth time in his career at Williams Grove.
Lafferty started second in the 25-lap 410 sprint main and followed polesitter Steve Buckwalter around the track closely from the beginning of the race before finally securing the top spot.
With Buckwalter glued to the bottom in his No. 17B, Lafferty raced the high line around the oval to cross the stripe less than a car length behind the leader lap after lap, beginning on the fourth circuit.
But it took until just shy of the halfway point, on lap 11 to be exact, for Lafferty to push his black racer around Buckwalters white machine and put it front.
And once out front, Lafferty jetted away as he settled into the bottom groove to pick up the victory.
At the finish, Lafferty took the checkers as Buckwalter was setting his car into the third corner.
Laffertys margin of victory in the non-stop affair was 6.586 seconds.
It was the Jersey racers fifth career win at the half-mile oval.
Following Buckwalter in third was Jim Siegel followed by Gerard McIntyre Jr. and Greg Hodnett.
