BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. — The Doctor made a house call at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. It was New Yorker Dr. Danny Johnson, a master of dirt track Modified stock car racing, winning the annual 50-lap Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings and earning $10,000 for his efforts in front of a large crowd.
Johnson came from 16th starting spot. In the 25-lap feature for late models, point leader Randy Stoudt earned his fifth win of the season and it was Guy Germano brought a halt to the six race win streak of point leader Jared Umbenhauer as he won the 25-lap feature for the Sportsman stock cars.
Duane Howard, a leader for 18 laps in the 50-lap Modified feature, had to settle for second while four feature winner Doug Manmiller grabbed third. Fourth spot was earned by point leader Jeff Stunk and seven time track champion Craig VonDohren came home fifth. Close to 40 Modifieds tried for starting spots in the rich classic run in memory of the track founder.
Finishing right behind Stoudt in the Late Model feature was Sean Merkel. Wayne Pfeil came home third followed by Cory Merkel and Kory Fleming.
The big surprise of the night was Germano, a non-winner all season, getting the Sportsman feature win with Craig Whitmoyer a very close second. Mike Lisowski earned third followed by Paul Kline and Kenny Gilmore. Point leader Jared Umbenhauer, who had won six features in a row and 11 this season, finished seventh.
