Howard Rolls To Grandview Victory No. 5

BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. – Five-time Grandview Speedway track champion Duane Howard wheeled the Atlas Paving No. 66 358 Modified to victory in the 30-lap Atlas Paving sponsored feature race at Grandview on Saturday night. The win was his fifth of the season.

In the Pepsi-Bashore One-on-One Modified Challenge Kevin Hirthler was able to top seven time track champion Craig VonDohren in the final challenge to earn $1,500.In the 25-lap main event for the BRC Late Models it was young rookie racer Cory Merkel getting his first career victory. And for the tenth time this season point leader Jared Umbenhauer was able to take the top spot in the 25-lap feature for Sportsman.

Doug Manmiller was a strong challenger to Howard in the closing laps but had to settle for second in the 28 car Modified feature. Point leader Jeff Strunk grabbed third followed by Don Norris Jr. and Kyle Borror.

Sean Merkel, Cory’s older brother, settled for second in the Late Model feature. Joe Fanelli had another impressive outing gaining a third place finish followed by Kory Fleming and point leader Randy Stoudt.

In the Sportsman main event Jason Neidlinger finished second in the 25 lapper. Kenny Gilmore had a strong third place effort with Brett Kressley and Tom “Elvis” Miller following.
