MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Danny Dietrich took the lead just shy of the halfway point and held of Lance Dewease to record the 25-lap sprint car win Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, worth $4,300.
In the 25-lap late model main it was York Havens Jason Covert who picked up the win, wiring the field for the checkers.
Dietrich started third in the sprint car field with Logan Schuchart and Ryan Taylor on the front row.
The race was quickly red flagged before one lap could be completed for a multi-car tangle in the fourth corner with no injuries reported.
Schuchart was leading the way with only two laps down when Cory Haas rolled to a stop on the backstretch, again slowing the pace.
Dietrich got by Taylor for second with 20 laps to go and tracked down Schuchart so that the pair was racing nose to tail for the lead with nine down just as Taylor and Dewease were racing in the same fashion for third spot.
Dietrich drove his No. 48 to the outside of Schuchart in the fourth corner to complete the 11th tour and take the lead before entering traffic three laps later.
Though trailing substantially, Dewease eventually got by Schuchart for second with nine laps to go before setting his sights on the leader.
