VERNAL, Utah — Three more IMCA-sanctioned divisions will join the regular racing program at Utah’s Diamond Mountain Speedway this season.
Joining the IMCA-sanctioned modifieds and Southern SportMods at the quarter-mile dirt oval will be stock cars, hobby stocks and sport compacts. Stock car and hobby stock points earned at Diamond Mountain count towards the Stephenville Starter Southern Region standings for the respective divisions.
“We wanted to get these divisions onto a national set of rules,” said promoter Allen Hacking. “We want to make sure anyone can come with an IMCA legal car and race here.”
The first night of points racing at Diamond Mountain Speedway is April 30. The season continues through Sept. 17.
“We like the whole IMCA package,” Hacking said. “My pitch to the drivers has been that IMCA has the rules, the insurance and the point funds.”
Diamond Mountain has featured IMCA modifieds since 2007 and the Southern SportMods since 2009.
