In a career that spanned over two decades and comprised an era when supermodifieds evolved into traditional sprint cars, Dosher got a whole lot done. In the end, his body of work was duly noted.
At the time of his passing on June 20, 2021, Dosher had been inducted into the Knoxville Raceway, Belleville High Banks, Big Car Racing Association, Central Auto Racing Boosters, S-K Mechanics, and National Sprint Car Halls of Fame.
And to think it all really started by chance.
It seems clear that a mere $12.50 investment paid long-term benefits. As with all racers, a time comes when the roar ends. He went home well beyond the noise and spotlight. In his words he “just backed away and did other things.” It was a time of relaxation that was well earned. There were undoubtedly moments when Thad closed his eyes and could see the checkered flag fall at Knoxville, or imagine the raw power of a sprint car under his control. However, there was no room for regrets because in the final analysis Thad Dosher made a mark in his time on earth by doing an uncommon job uncommonly well.
