Johnny Mantz
The winner of the inaugural Southern 500 at South Carolina’s Darlington Raceway, Johnny Mantz also made a pair of appearances in the Indianapolis 500. He finished 13th in his debut at Indy in 1948 and returned a year later, finishing seventh.
