Johnny O’Connell

Best known for his successful career racing GT cars, Johnny O’Connell competed in the Indianapolis 500 in 1996. Driving an entry fielded by Byrd-Cunningham Racing, he started and finished 29th. He was tabbed as a replacement driver for injured Scott Sharp by A.J. Foyt the following year at Indy, but O’Connell crashed and was also injured.
