WORLD OF OUTLAWS NOS ENERGY DRINK SPRINT CAR SERIES

Brad Sweet claimed his second consecutive World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship, and second consecutive team title for Kasey Kahne Racing and third total.

Of the 54 races contested in 2020, Sweet drove the KKR No. 49 to 46 top-10 finishes.

Sweet joins a very short list of drivers who have earned multiple World of Outlaws championships, alongside Mark Kinser, Steve Kinser, Jason Meyers, Donny Schatz, and Sammy Swindell.

In addition, KKR joined Karl Kinser, Steve Kinser Racing, and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing as just the fourth team to win three or more owner titles.

Kyle Larson topped the series win-list, with 12. Sweet earned eight feature wins, while point runner-up Logan Schuchart, Sheldon Haudenschild, and David Gravel earned seven wins apiece.

Ten-time champion Donny Schatz finished third, with five wins for the season. Shane Stewart earned two wins, as the series‘ only other multiple feature winner.

This year‘s running of sprint car racing‘s premiere event, the 60th annual Knoxville Nationals, was postponed until 2021 due to COVID regulations.

Other premier events, such as the Kings Royal, were also canceled.

Despite being a racing veteran, in his first full season with the Outlaws, Wayne Johnson became the series‘ Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year.

Jason Johnson Racing crew chief Philip Dietz won the 2020 Crew Chief of the Year award, while KKR crew member Andrew Bowman was honored with the Jason Johnson Sportsman of the Year award, honoring his unwavering commitment to the sport and his willingness to always help other teams.
