CARMEL, Ind. – Former karting star Lane Vacala has signed to compete full-time in the Nitro Rallycross (Nitro RX) NEXT series for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
The series is set to begin this weekend (Jun 18-19) at Lydden Hill in England. The partnership will be Vacala’s third season with DRR in rallycross competition.
Vacala comes off his most successful season in rallycross in 2021. Last year in Nitro Rallycross’ NEXT category, he earned two podium finishes and led the championship during the season.
Vacala comes from a karting background as a former driver for the factory Compkart J3 Competition Team and became has been a top nationally ranked karting racer. Lane won the Great Lakes Sprint Series Championship in 2014.
Vacala looks forward to the opportunities with DRR in the new NRX NEXT campaign.
“I’m very grateful to be back with the DRR team,” said Vacala. “The entire crew takes pride in what they do and works extremely hard to give me a competitive car every time I hit the track. I can’t thank Dennis (Reinbold) and the entire team enough for having me back for a third season. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year.”
“We are excited to bring Lane Vacala back for another season of NRX NEXT,” said Dennis Reinbold, team owner of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. “We have seen him grow as a driver since he first joined our team in 2019. Last year, he impressed us with podiums and consistent top five finishes. We believe Lane is in line for more podiums and fighting for wins this season.”
Nitro Rallycross is taking the series global for the first time in its existence, as the series kicks off this weekend at Lydden Hill Race Circuit in England.
“It’s very exciting for Nitro RX to go global and allow us to bring the action and experience to fans in different countries,” said Vacala. “I look forward to racing at all types of new tracks and meeting fans from across the world.”
The NRX NEXT series will make stops in Sweden and Finland before coming to North America for events in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Alberta in Canada. The series will make its final stop in the United States in March of 2023.
