GLORY DAYS: Karl & Steve Kinser At Tri-State

Steve Kinser brought a near-capacity crowd to its feet with a turn-four pass of Sammy Swindell during the white-flag lap to win the World of Outlaws feature at Tri-State Speedway on July 14, 1991.

Kinser, a three-time winner at the high-banked quarter-mile track in Haubstadt, Ind., hit the fence during the 22nd lap when attempting to pass Swindell for the lead. Eighteen laps later, with the white flag flying, Kinser caught Swindell in the third corner, and drove Karl Kinser’s No. 11 Maxim under him in turn four and beat him to the checkered flag.

Swindell finished second and Dave Blaney was third.
