Action sports star and rally racer Ken Block was killed Monday in a snowmobile accident in Utah. Block was 55 years old.
The co-founder of DC Shoes, a popular skateboarding brand, Block was well known for his Gymkhana action videos, which attracted huge audiences to YouTube and other social media outlets.
“It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today,” said his team, Hoonigan Racing, in a statement late on Monday. “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”
According to the Sheriff’s office in Utah’s Wasatch district, Block’s snowmobile fell on top of him in the accident and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Block was also a frequent competitor in the American Rally Championship along with his wife Lucy and 16-year-old daughter Lia — one of his three children.
