SANTEE, Calif. — Created as a joint effort between Jimco Racing, Fastball Racing and MacCachren Motorsports and a host of top-tier partners, off-road racing’s most accomplished driver will pilot a factory Jimco all-wheel drive Trophy-Truck for entire 2024 SCORE Desert World Championship season.
Beginning at this week’s 37th SCORE San Felipe 250, Rob MacCachren will take on four SCORE desert races piloting the No. 11 Jimco Trophy-Truck in the sport’s premiere category.
Jimco and Fastball Racing’s desert campaign will be supported by team partners Fox Shox, BFGoodrich, Vision Wheel, KC HiLites and VP Fuels.
Today’s announcement marks the official return of MacCachren to the Jimco family, having competed with late Jimco Racing company owner Robbie Pierce in the mid-2000s. The news comes just a year after the Navarro family took over operations of the iconic off-road racing brand.
“After nearly 50 years as one of the sport’s most iconic manufacturers, today’s announcement really represents the next evolution of this company,” explained Jimco owner Rafael Navarro III. “The top echelon of the sport is more competitive than at any time in off-road racing history.
“This new program provides Jimco and our next generation of Trophy-Trucks the very best opportunity to get us back to the winner’s circle. We are very grateful to Bobby Patton of Fastball Racing for his support and commitment in helping make this program a reality.”
Jimco Racing is currently building a second factory two-wheel drive Trophy-Truck for Patton scheduled to debut at September’s SCORE Baja 400. The clean-sheet design represents Jimco’s fourth generation unlimited truck and marks the second new design collaboration between Barry Karakas and Rafael Navarro IV.
At 59 years young, MacCachren will arrive to the San Felipe 250 with an all-time record of 20 victories in the SCORE Trophy-Truck division. A 2011 inductee in the prestigious Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, Rob’s unmatched list of career achievements includes an impressive resume of six overall victories at the SCORE San Felipe 250 (2003, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018).
For MacCachren, the 2011 and 2012 San Felipe victories came behind the wheel of No. 20 Jimco factory Trophy-Truck.
Legendary off-road racing tire manufacturer BFGoodrich (longtime Jimco partner and MacCachren supporter) is also a race record holder, having posted 31 overall San Felipe 250 wins in the race’s 36-year history.
“We knew this partnership could work after Rob drove the new all-wheel drive for the first time,” added Navarro. “He drove it less than 50 miles, got out and told us we could win with this truck. That moment confirmed that we had something special.”
