What To Watch For — June 23-25

Big money will be on the line in numerous locations this weekend, headlined by the $250,000 top prize in the High Bank Nationals at South Dakota’s Huset’s Speedway.

The Jim Raper Dirt Cup pays $62,000 to the winner at Washington’s Skagit Speedway and the Firecracker 100 offers $50,000 to the top dirt late model pilot at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway.

Here’s what to watch for.

High Bank Nationals

It will be the highest-paying winged sprint car weekend of racing to this point in the season as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series stops at Huset’s Speedway for the second annual BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals.

Four nights (June 21-24) of racing will culminate with a $250,000 winner’s prize for Saturday night’s finale. The first three features of the week each pay $20,000 to win from the $750,000 total purse. Fifty-six drivers have entered the event.

The Music City

The NASCAR season resumes after the only break during the 36-race NASCAR Cup Series campaign, with a visit to Nashville Speedway.

All three national tours were off last week, and all three will be in action at the 1.33-mile concrete race track with the Craftsman Truck Series in action Friday, the Xfinity Series taking center stage on Saturday and the Cup Series running its 17th race of the season on Sunday. 

Dirt Cup

The 51st annual Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup will take place at Washington’s Skagit Speedway with more than 50 winged 410 sprint cars expected to contest three nights of action culminating with at $62,000-to-win main event on Saturday night. 

The Ohio Hustle

The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series makes its annual summer visit to Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle classes will all be in action.

Wisconsin Bound

Two USAC series will make the trek to Wisconsin for three nights of racing. The USAC Silver Crown Series kicks things off on the asphalt at Madison Int’l Speedway on Friday night, while the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series gets down and dirty with Saturday and Sunday visits to Wilmot Raceway and Angell Park Speedway.

PA Speedweek

A three-race weekend will kick off the 33rd PA Sprint Speedweek.

The action begins Friday at Williams Grove Speedway and continues Saturday at Lincoln Speedway and Sunday at BAPS Motor Speedway. The Williams Grove and BAPS rounds will pay $8,000 to the winner, while the Lincoln main event offers $10,092.

They are the first three of 10 scheduled Speedweek races running through July 3.

Hell Tour

The second week of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals features six nights of racing for the late models at six different race tracks.

Six Hours of The Glen

One of the most prestigious sports car races in North America, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns with Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) Int’l. The six-hour endurance race headlines a weekend card that includes the Michelin Pilot Challenge, MX-5 Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Firecracker

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series racers will battle it out for three nights at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway, capped by a $50,000-to-win feature on the final night of the 17th annual Firecracker 100 at the four-tenths-mile dirt track.
