What To Watch For — June 16-18

It’s Father’s Day weekend and all three NASCAR national series have the weekend off. The NTT IndyCar Series visits Road America, the STARS ASA National Tour runs the Father’s Day 100 at The Milwaukee Mile, Ohio Speedweek continues, the DIRTcar Summer Nationals kick off and
Ohio Speedweek concludes.

Road America

Arguably, the most scenic road course in North America, Wisconsin’s Road America will host the NTT IndyCar Series for a Father’s Day extravaganza. Point leaderAlex Palou has won two of the past three IndyCar Series races and is a former winner at the four-mile circuit near Elkhart Lake.

Eastern Storm

The 16th annual Eastern Storm tour for the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series features six nights of racing at six different venues in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The tour kicked off Tuesday (June 13) at Grandview Speedway and concludes June 18 at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa.

Saturday’s stop at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway is a doubleheader as the USAC Silver Crown Series will also be in action at the state-of-the-art half-mile track.

The Buckeye State

The 41st annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket enters its second week of competition with a return to Eldora Speedway on Friday and the Dean Knittel Memorial, paying $22,554 to win wrapping the nine-night event on Saturday at Portsmouth Raceway Park.

Northwest Tour

The NARC 410 Sprint Car Series begins its annual trek into the Northwest with four races in four nights at four different race tracks.

The swing, which leads into the June 22-24 Jim Raper Dirt Cup at Washington’s Skagit Speedway, opens Thursday at Southern Oregon Speedway and includes events at Douglas County Dirtrack, Willamette Speedway and Grays Harbor Raceway.

The June 24 Dirt Cup will pay $62,000 to win.

The Hell Tour

The 38th edition of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, known to many as The Hell Tour, will kick off Wednesday (June 14) at Peoria Speedway with the first of five races for the DIRTcar late models.

The DIRTcar late model drivers will contest 28 races in 33 days, while the companion DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals is set for 25 races during the same time frame.

After the Peoria kickoff, the series also visits Kankakee County Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, Fairbury Speedway and Sycamore Speedway this week.

Visions

The fourth round of the Ultra4 USA season is at hand, marking the halfway point of the eight-round off-road championship.

Ultra4 USA’s signature event, Visions Off-Road, will take place at the MidAmerica Outdoors facility in Jay, Okla., on June 14-18.

The weeklong festivities will involve premier Ultra4 USA competition, the MAO Racing SXS Championship Series and Travis Pastrana’s Nitrocross — formerly known as Nitro Rallycross.

The Ultra4 USA and MAO races can be streamed live at AmericanOutdoorEvents.TV.

Two Wheels

If two-wheel motorcycle action is more your style, both American Flat Track and the Pro Motocross Championship are in action this weekend. Jared Mees will look to continue his prowess on mile race tracks when AFT stops at the Du Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds, while Jett Lawrence looks to remain perfect on the motocross season, having won three straight events.

The Outlaws

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will make its first trip of the season to Wisconsin June 16-17 for a two-day event at Beaver Dam Raceway, boasting a $118,050 purse.

The doubleheader Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial event will see the best sprint car drivers in the country battle for a $10,000 payday on Friday and a $20,000 winner’s share on Saturday.

Sheldon Haudenschild has won the last three races at the third-mile track.

Asphalt Aces

There may be no NASCAR racing this weekend, but the country’s best asphalt late model drivers will be in action with three important events.

The ASA STARS National Tour and ASA Midwest Tour will co-sanction the Father’s Day 100 at The Milwaukee Mile.

Ty Majeski, who is second in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings, leads the National Tour points after four events. The event will be live streamed by MidwestTour.tv.

The Spears Southwest Tour visits California’s Kern County Raceway for the WildWest Shootout. Jacob Gomes has won three of the four races for the series this season. Catch all the action on SpearsRacing.tv.

Finally, the CARS Tour will visit Virginia’s Dominion Raceway on Saturday for 125 laps of late model stock competition.
