Many of this weekend’s races, scheduled for May 4-5, have become victim to rain once again.
Here’s an updated list of rainouts.
Grandview Speedway (May 4)
BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. — On and off again rain showers moving through the Berks County region during the late afternoon, along with more rain forecast for later in the evening caused a cancellation of racing action planned for Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.
Chemung Speedrome (May 4)
CHEMUNG, N.Y. — Chemung Speedrome’s season opener has been canceled due to weather. The track will get their season rolling next Saturday as the track welcomes the Race of Champions Modified Series for a 75-lap event.
Lucas Oil Late Models (May 3-4)
BATAVIA, Ohio — Due to the unpredictable weather forecast and recognizing the high travel cost for touring teams, Florence Speedway and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials have mutually agreed to postpone Saturday’s 38th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway.
Track and series officials are exploring options for a make-up date.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series now shifts its focus to a mega weekend in the Midwest. On May 8-11, the Land of Lincoln will host the 3rd Annual Illinois Speedweek, a four-race swing beginning with Spoon River Speedway on May 8 before invading Lincoln Speedway on May 9.
South Boston Speedway (May 3)
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. — Due to weather forecasts calling for persistent rain showers and the potential for thunderstorms in the region on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening, South Boston Speedway officials have canceled Saturday night’s God’s Pit Crew Race Night presented by Billy’s A/C Service event.
Advance tickets purchased for Saturday night’s God’s Pit Crew Race Night presented by Billy’s A/C Service event will be honored when NASCAR racing returns to South Boston Speedway on Saturday, May 11, with the ABC 13, WSET-TV Race Night presented by Bojangles event.
“We never like to cancel an event early, but this was the best decision for everyone involved, most especially our loyal fans and competitors,” explained South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “We invite everyone to come out and join us on Saturday night, May 11 for exciting NASCAR short track racing.”
Placerville Speedway (May 3)
PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Russell Motorsports Inc. has made the decision to cancel this Saturday’s event at Placerville Speedway due to the immense wet weather that is in the forecast. The track will return to action on Saturday, May 11, with a four-division program during Mother’s Day Madness.
Ohsweken Test & Tune (May 3)
OHSWEKEN, Ont. — The practice session originally scheduled for Friday, May 3, has been postponed until Friday, May 10, due to persistent rain and wet grounds at Ohsweken Speedway.
“We’re eager to welcome everyone back,” said track owner Glenn Styres. “Unfortunately, today’s rain means we’ll have to wait another week.”
