Several races scheduled for the weekend have fallen prey to rough weather and rainy conditions. Here is an updated list of what weekly series and other events have been postponed.
Note: The most recent cancelations will be added at the top of the page.
Friday’s Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 125 Postponed To Saturday
Friday night’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Richmond Raceway has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The Virginia is for Racing Lovers 150 is rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday following the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Toyota Care 250.
“Tomorrow will be a day we won’t soon forget,” said Richmond Raceway president Lori Collier Waran. “It’s disappointing we couldn’t race tonight, but our fans will now be treated to two incredible events on the opening day of April.”
Williams Grove Season Opener Postponed, Yet Again
Rains in the afternoon that are expected to last into the evening have again caused Williams Grove Speedway officials to cancel the slated season opener planned for Friday, March 31.
This will move the season lidlifter presented by Hoosier to next Friday, April 7, when the 410 sprints will be joined by the 358 sprints in action on Kids Easter Night. The 410 sprints will then compete in the first Yellow Breeches 500 race of the season, paying $500-to-start and $5,000-to-win.
USAC Sprints At Lawrenceburg Postponed A Week
A forecast of rain and cool temperatures has forced postponement of this Saturday’s USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship round at Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway.
The event will now take place next Saturday night, April 8, and will serve as the Midwest opener for the series at the three-eighths-mile, high banked dirt oval in southeastern Indiana.
Four-time series champion Brady Bacon will enter the event as the point leader following a February victory at Florida’s Bubba Raceway Park. Bacon also captured the most recent springtime Lawrenceburg USAC Sprint Car event in 2021. Kyle Cummins scored the most recent USAC National Sprint Car win at Lawrenceburg in October of 2022 during the Fall Nationals.
The rescheduled event will mark the 100th USAC National event held at Lawrenceburg Speedway since USAC made its debut at the venue in 1961.
Thunderbird Speedway’s OCRS Friday Program
Rain has struck again.
Wet conditions have forced Thunderbird Speedway to cancel Friday’s AmeriFlex Oil Capital Racing Series Sprint Car program. This is the third straight week that Thunderbird has had to cancel. The show will not be made up.
All is nice and dry out west, meaning that the Enid Speedway program is on as scheduled for Saturday, April 1.
Western Midget Racing Doubleheader In California
Relentless wet weather throughout the week has led to the cancelation of this weekend’s doubleheader at Ocean Speedway and Antioch Speedway for Western Midget Racing, previously scheduled for March 31 and April 1.
The series will now turn its attention to Ventura Raceway on April 29 for round three of the championship series.
Friday’s Ballot At Attica Raceway Park
A forecast of strong winds and rain all day for Friday, March 31, has prompted Attica Raceway Park officials to postpone racing.
The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will kick off their point season at Attica Raceway Park for the traditional Core & Main Spring Nationals presented by Construction Equipment & Supply and Advanced Drainage Systems scheduled for April 7 and April 8.
The Dirt Nerds Podcast/Propane.com UMP Late Models will join the All Stars on Friday and the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints will compete on Saturday. If both Friday and Saturday events are cancelled, they will be made up on April 14 and 15.
Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s Asparagus Cup
Due to continued wet weather in the area and saturated grounds, the Stockton Dirt Track has canceled this Saturday’s scheduled running of the Asparagus Cup. The event was set to feature the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, NARC 410s and the Hunt Wingless Sprints.
With the cancelation, the SCCT 360s will now make their only Stockton appearance of the season on Saturday, Nov. 4. That event will mark the 40th annual “Tribute to Gary Patterson” and will be championship night for the series.
The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards now has two weekends off before getting ready to tackle Merced Speedway on Saturday, April 22.
South Boston Speedway Adjusts Saturday Schedule
With weather forecasts calling for the potential for rain, thunderstorms and high winds through the morning hours on Saturday, South Boston Speedway officials are shifting the URW Credit Union Fools Rush 262 racing program from an afternoon event to a night event.
The revised event-day schedule includes practice starting at 2:30 p.m. (ET), qualifying at 5:15 p.m. (ET) and the first green flag of the night at 7 p.m. (ET).
Thompson Icebreaker Postponed To April 7-8
A bleak weather outlook for the upcoming weekend has forced officials from the American-Canadian Tour and Pro All Stars Series to postpone the 49th Icebreaker Weekend at Thompson Speedway one week.
Now set for April 7-8, the revamped schedule will continue the same divisions as previously announced, simply postponed one week due to the extremely wet forecast expected to hit the northeast corner of Connecticut this weekend.
The revamped Icebreaker schedule for next week will include optional practice for all Icebreaker divisions on April 6. With the Icebreaker being the first race of the season, officials felt the optional practice day would be paramount for teams to have the opportunity to shake down their rides before it came to competition on Friday and Saturday.
The only major schedule change comes with moving the PASS Super Late Model 75 to Saturday, April 8, to coincide with the Open Modified Icebreaker 125.
Super DIRTcar Series Stop At Atomic Canceled
Super DIRTcar Series and Atomic Speedway officials have been closely monitoring weather for this weekend’s Rumble in the Hills and determined that heavy rain on Friday, followed by dropping temperatures and high winds in the southern Ohio region will make it impossible for the event to take place as scheduled.
With teams and fans traveling long distance from the Northeast, the event will be canceled.
Officials have looked to move the event to another date, but none works for both parties this season.
The Super DIRTcar Series will be back in action on April 15, at Can-Am Speedway for the Thunder on the 1000 Islands showcase event — a 75-lap, $7,500-to-win payday.
Xtreme Outlaw Midgets & WoO Late Models To Not Make Up Farmer City Rainout
After discussions involving World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series, and Farmer City Raceway officials, along with guidance from Precision Weather Service, the decision has been made to cancel this weekend’s Illini 100.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms expected from the early hours on Friday to the early hours on Saturday, along with dropping temperatures and dangerously strong winds, will have a negative impact on the drivers’ ability to compete and the fans’ overall experience at the event. With the total precipitation officials expect on Friday, the facility would be difficult to access.
Even with an at-best optimistic forecast Saturday, the conditions left behind by the expected weather system makes the event impractical for all involved.
With the national and regional event schedules increasing as Spring advances, the event will not fit into the 2023 calendar and will not be made up.
