Rain is wreaking havoc on Saturday’s racing slate across the country.
• At Ohio’s Sharon Speedway, rain falling in the morning and a high likelihood of thunderstorms continuing until evening, the track made the decision to cancel racing action scheduled for Saturday night.
It marked the third rain out of the season for the three-eighths-mile oval.
• Forecasted rain in the afternoon canceled action at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania.
The scheduled Ron Zimmerman Tribute Race is tentatively scheduled to be made up on August 23 and be paired alongside the Lucas Oil Late Model Rumble by the River weekend.
• After nine straight races without rainouts, Pennsylvania’s Grandview Speedway has been hit with thunderstorms, forcing Saturday’s events to be canceled.
Everyone will now look ahead to next week as Grandview will be presenting another NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program featuring the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman.
• Due to the potential of severe weather in the area with thunderstorms, lightning, high winds and flooding through the afternoon and into the evening, Virginia’s South Boston Speedway officials have canceled Saturday night’s event.
“Given the weather forecasts we have received from the national weather service and other weather outlets, it is in everyone’s best interest that we have made the decision to cancel tonight’s Davenport Energy Race Night event,” said South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “We invite everyone to come out and join us for our next scheduled event on Saturday night, August 17.”
• With heavy continuous rain Saturday evening at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, DIRTcar Northeast and Autodrome Drummond officials have postponed Saturday’s DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region Feature with one lap complete.
DIRTcar Northeast and Autodrome Drummond officials are working on a suitable date to reschedule the event.
