1. Ricky Thornton Jr.
Ricky Thornton Jr. won three features during Memorial Day week and finished fifth in the famed Show-Me 100. Thornton, who has now won 14 features this season, won Lucas Oil late model features at Lucas Oil Speedway and a stock car main event at Iowa’s Clay County Fair Speedway. Last Week: 4
2. Jett Lawrence
After earning eight victories en route to his first Monster Energy AMA Supercross championship, Jett Lawrence kicked off defense of his Pro Motocross Championship title, with at dominant victory at California’s Fox Raceway. Last Week: 5
3. David Gravel
World of Outlaws point leader David Gravel picked up his national-best eighth victory of the season Friday at Ohio’s Atomic Speedway. Gravel was 21st Saturday at Atomic, seventh Sunday at Port Royal Speedway and second Monday at Fremont (Ohio) Speedway. Last Week: 1
4. Josef Newgarden
Josef Newgarden shook off more than a month’s worth of controversy and drove his Team Penske No. 2 Indy car to victory in the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 to become the first back-to-back winner of the event since Helio Castroneves in 2001 and 2002. Last Week: Not Ranked
5. Brad Sweet
Brad Sweet went winless this week and lost the High Limit Racing point lead by one marker to Tyler Courtney. Still, Sweet has won seven sprint car features this season. Last Week: 2
6. Max Verstappen
Three-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen finished a disappointing sixth in Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix. Still, Verstappen, who has won five of the eight races this season holds a commanding point lead. Last Week: 3
7. Logan Seavey
Logan Seavey, who won leads the USAC national sprint car standings, won twice in three nights of racing for the non-winged sprint car tour, including in the prestigious Hulman Classic. He’s won five features in the series this season. Last Week: Not Ranked
8. Denny Hamlin
Consistency continues to be the order of the day for Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 team. Hamlin finished fifth in the rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600 and leads the standings after 14 races. Hamlin has three victories this season. Last Week: 7
9. Kody Swanson
Seven-time USAC Silver Crown Series champion Kody Swanson won for the third time in four races this season. Swanson banked $26,000 after winning the Hoosier Hundred for the fifth time on Saturday. He’s won all three pavement races this season. Last Week: Not Ranked.Â
10. Ron Silk
Ron Silk, who leads the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour standings, won for the third time in five races at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway. Last Week: 9
On The Rise: With three wins in two different types of cars, Ricky Thornton Jr. moved to the top of the order, while Supercross champion Jett Lawrence and Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden also made big moves.
Free Falling: Matt Hagan, Corey Heim and Kyle Larson all dropped out of the top 10 in the rankings this week, but are likely to reenter the countdown in the future.
One To Watch: Logan Seavey won two USAC sprint car features last week and could climb further up the power rankings as the USAC schedule gets busy during the month of June.
