Power Rankings: New No. 1 As Day Falls

It’s time for a new edition of SPEED SPORT Power Rankings. Who will be on top this week?

1. Logan Seavey

Logan Seavey swept a two-night USAC national sprint car weekend at Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway and has won 10 features in the series this season. He moves to the top in this week’s SPEED SPORT power rankings. Last Week: 8

2. Max Verstappen

Formula 1 point leader Max Verstappen finished second in Sunday’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone and continues to hold a commanding point lead in the world driving championship. Verstappen has won seven of 12 races this season. Last Week: 3

3. Ricky Thornton Jr.

Ricky Thornton Jr., who has won 19 dirt late model features this season, finished second Saturday night at Muskingum County Speedway and was released from his duties driving for SSI Motorsports on Sunday. Thornton, who leads the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series standings, is currently seeking a new ride. Last Week: 2

4. Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence, who had won four of the first five Pro Motocross races of the season and the Monster Energy AMA Supercross title, is out for the season after suffering a thumb injury in practice. Last Week: 1

5. Tyler Courtney

Winged sprint car racer Tyler Courtney had a weekend off from High Limit Racing competition. He’s driven the Clauson-Marshall Racing No. 7bc to nine victories this season, including races with High Limit and the World of Outlaws. Last Week: 4

6. Austin Prock

With three NHRA Funny Car victories this season, Austin Prock has a commanding lead in the class standings as the series takes a two-week break before resuming July 19-21 at Pacific Raceways newar Seattle, Last Week: 5

7. Doug Kalitta

Defending NHRA Top Fuel champion Doug Kalitta extended his point lead by racing into the final round at Summit Motorsports Equipment Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Kalitta has three victories this season. Last Week: 6

8. Bobby Pierce

Bobby Pierce earned $50,000 for winning the prestigious Gopher 50 World of Outlaws Late Model Series race Saturday night at Minnesota’s Deer Creek Speedway. Pierce has 16 late model victories in 48 starts this season. Last Week: Not Ranked.

9. Anthony Macri

Anthony Macri earned three victories en route to the PA Speedweek championship, including a $20,000 triumph in the Mitch Smith Memorial at Williams Grove Speedway. Macri has won a national-best 12 features this season. Last Week: Not Ranked.

10. Tyler Erb

Traveling dirt late model racer Tyler Erb earned his eighth victory of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway in Indiana. He has 11 overall victories this season. Last Week: Not Ranked.

On The Rise: With a pair of USAC sprint car victories, Logan Seavey jumped to the top of the power rankings. Bobby Pierce, Anthony Macri and Tyler Erb all entered the top 10.

Free Falling: Corey Day, Danny Dietrich and Alex Palou all fell out of the top 10. Day had the week off, while Dietrich won a PA Speedweek feature and Palou finished second in Sunday’s NTT IndyCar Series race.
