Power Rankings: Hill Makes His Presence Known, Marks Out

It’s time for a new edition of SPEED SPORT Power Rankings. Who will be on top this week?

1. Bobby Pierce

Racing returned to West Virginia’s Pennsboro Speedway for the first time in more than 20 years and Bobby Pierce was the class of the field. Pierce won a preliminary feature and Saturday’s $30,000-to-win main event. He’s won 37 dirt late model features this season. Last Week: 1

2. Carson Macedo

Carson Macedo topped Friday night’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race at Riverside Int’l Speedway for his 11th win of the season. Last Week: 2

3. Brad Sweet

Brad Sweet won three races in a row during the final week of High Limit Racing competition and secured the series championship Saturday Texas Motor Speedway. Sweet won 10 High Limit features this year. Last Week: 4

4. Buddy Kofoid

Buddy Kofoid’s late-season charge hit a speed bump at Riverside Int’l Speedway, but he’s still finished on the podium in 12 of the past 15 races and won seven features. Last Week: 3

5. Austin Prock

A winner of seven NHRA Funny Car races this season, Austin Prock was the top qualifier and lost in the semifinals at the Texas Motorplex. He maintains a commanding point lead with two races remaining. Last Week: 5

6. Stewart Friesen

Stewart Friesen charged from the back of the field to win the 63rd running of the Eastern States 200 big-block modified feature at New York’s Orange County Fair Speedway. It was the second victory of the weekend for Friesen, who won the Oswego 200 earlier this month. Last Week: 9

7. Austin Hill

Austin Hill earned his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series race of the season and secured a spot in the Championship 4 Nov. 10 at Phoenix Raceway. Last Week: Not Ranked

8. Logan Seavey

Logan Seavey wrapped up the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Championship over the weekend, making him a career USAC Triple Crown winner with titles in sprint cars, midgets and Silver Crown. Last Week: 7

9. Justin Bonsignore

Justin Bonsignore finished the season with three consecutive Whelen Modified Tour victories, including Saturday’s finale at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. The charge secured Bonsignore his fourth series championship. Last Week: Not Ranked

10. Kyle Larson

Kyle leads the NASCAR Cup Series with six victories this season and has also won the Knoxville Nationals, but he’s on the bubble to advance to the Championship 4 in the Cup Series Playoffs. Last Week: 6

On The Rise: Austin Prock gets back on the track with two races remaining in the chase for the NHRA Funny Car championship.

Free Falling: Brent Marks and Kody Swanson fell from the rankings.
