Power Rankings: Here Comes Chase Sexton

It’s time for a new edition of SPEED SPORT Power Rankings. Who will be on top this week?

1. Bobby Pierce

Bobby Pierce just keeps winning. A week after topping the U.S. Nationals, Pierce earned $75,000 for winning the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway for the third consecutive season. He also won a preliminary feature and has 28 dirt late model triumphs this season. Last Week: 1

2. Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson banked $190,000 for winning the Knoxville Nationals for the third time in four years. He also won the Front Row Challenge and his Nationals preliminary feature. He’s driven Paul Silva’s No 57 to victory in his last five starts. He also leads the NASCAR Cup Series standings with four victories. Last Week: 2

3. David Gravel

David Gravel has won 14 sprint car features this season and he leads the World of Outlaws standings as the stretch drive of the season kicks off this week at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex. Last Week: 3

4. Logan Seavey

Logan Seavey captured the Indiana Sprint Week championship and leads the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship standing having won 13 features this year. He also won the Chili Bowl Nationals. Last Week: 4

5. Ricky Thornton Jr.

Ricky Thornton Jr. picked up a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win at Florence Speedway in Kentucky and has won 22 dirt late model features this season. Last Week: 10

6. Chase Sexton

Chase Sexton earned his fourth consecutive Lucas Oil Pro Motocross triumph over the weekend at Unadilla National in New York. Last Week: Not Ranked

7. Tyler Courtney

Tyler Courtney has won nine 410 winged sprint car features this season and recently topped the 360 Knoxville Nationals. Courtney finished seventh in the Knoxville Nationals. Last Week: 5

8. Austin Prock

Austin Prock leads the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Funny Car standings and has four victories as the season resumes this weekend at Minnesota’s Brainerd Int’l Raceway. Last Week: 7

9. Rico Abreu

Rico Abreu has won seven features this season, including four with High Limit Racing and two with the World of Outlaws. Last Week: 8

10. Ty Majeski

Ty Majeski captured his second consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series triumph Saturda at Richmond (Va.) Raceway. He also won a recent ASA Midwest Tour event. Last Week: Not Ranked.

On The Rise: Pro Motocross point leader Chase Sexton jumped into the rankings with his fourth consecutive victory.

Free Falling: Pro Stock drag racer Aaron Stanfield and modified and Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen fell from the top 10 in the power rankings.

One To Watch: The High Limit Racing series heads to California for three races this weekend, will point leader Brad Sweet get back to victory lane in his home state?
