It’s time for a new edition of SPEED SPORT Power Rankings. Who will be on top this week?
1. Erica Enders
Six-time NHRA Pro Stock champion Erica Enders raced into the final round Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Dragstrip in Pomona, Calif., but the final was postponed two weeks because of rain. Enders previously won the Gatornationals and the PRO Superstar Shootout this season.
2. William Byron
William Byron, who won the season-opening Daytona 500, became the first NASCAR Cup Series driver to win twice this season when he captured Sunday’s race at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.
3. Jett LawrenceÂ
With five Monster Energy AMA Supercross victories this season, Jett Lawrence leads the standings by 16 points with six events remaining.
4. Alex Palou
Reigning NTT IndyCar Series champion Alex Palou turned in a dominant performance to win Sunday’s $1 Million Challenge at The Thermal Club, earning the $500,000 top prize for his Chip Ganassi Racing team.
5. Matt Sheppard
Matt Sheppard earned $50,000 for winning the Speed Showcase, which was sanctioned by the Short Track Super Series, at Pennsylvania’s Port Royal Speedway. It was his fourth STSS triumph of the season and his sixth victory of the year.
6. Josef Newgarden
Having won the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, Josef Newgarden turned in a dominant performance to win the NTT IndyCar Series opener at St. Petersburg, Fla.
7. Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen won the first two Formula 1 races of the season but dropped out of Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix. Still, the Red Bull driver leads the standings after three races.
8. Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson topped Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Circuit of The Americas. Larson also owns one Cup Series triumph and a High Limit Racing sprint car win this season.
9. Logan Seavey
Logan Seavey won a pair of USAC sprint car features at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park and leads the series standings after five races. He also won the Chili Bowl Nationals for the second time this season. Seavey added a midget victory in Australia.
10. Jonathan Davenport
Jonathan Davenport earned $12,000 for winning Sunday’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Ohio’s Atomic Speedway. It was Davenport’s second win of the season in the series.
