Numbers: A Fast Indianapolis 500 Qualifying, History On Dirt

234.220 — Scott McLaughlin’s 234.220 mph four-lap average during pole qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 was the quickest four-lap run in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history.

1-2-3 — Scott McLaughlin, Will Power and Josef Newgarden sweeping the front row for the Indianapolis 500 marked the second time in history a single team turned that trick. Team Penske also did it in 1988 with Rick Mears, Danny Sullivan and Al Unser.

8 — Chevrolet-powered cars swept the top eight qualifying positions for the Indianapolis 500.

199 — Laps led by Joey Logano in winning the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway.

75 — Antron Brown snagged his 75th NHRA national event victory when he claimed Top Fuel honors May 19 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.

1 — Kaylee Bryson became the first female winner of a USAC national event in the 69-year history of the sanctioning body, topping the May 18 Silver Crown race at the Belleville (Kan.) High Banks.

22 — Chris Madden raced from 22nd starting position to win the May 18 World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series feature at Pennsylvania’s Marion Center Raceway.

199 — Longtime USAC entrant Mike Curb picked up his 199th victory with the sanctioning body when Cannon McIntosh put the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian midget in victory lane at the Belleville (Kan.) Short Track.

198 — Laps Ricky Stenhouse Jr. waited inside North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway to confront Kyle Busch after the All-Star Race. The two made contact early on before Busch wrecked the driver of the No. 47 Chevrolet. Stenhouse punched Busch after the race. 

9 — Chevrolets represented in the Fast 12 during Indianapolis 500 qualifying. Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist was the fastest Honda driver in ninth.

900 — The World of Outlaws Late Model Series embarked on its 900th feature on Sunday night at Path Valley (Pa.) Speedway. Bobby Pierce scored the victory.

200 — Larry ten Voorde scored the win in Porsche Supercup’s 200th race, which was held at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy. 

10 — For the first time in 10 years, Brittany Force failed to make the starting field in NHRA Top Fuel action after missing the cut at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Ill.
