SAKHIR, Bahrain – Defending Formula One champion Max Verstappen was fastest in the final day of pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Verstappen posted a top lap time of 1:31.720 in the third and final day.
That was also the top overall time of the week.
The top three was completed by Haas F1’s Mick Schumacher (1:32.241) and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Verstappen recorded 53 laps in the session.
“The main focus today was testing the tires we are going to use next week,” Verstappen said in a Red Bull team release. “The car felt alright and we completed the program we set out to do, so that’s always positive. No one gives full beans or goes to qualifying spec at testing, so we can’t read too much into the timing screens. The new parts we tested today worked well which is what we always hope for.”
