IMOLA, Italy — World champion Max Verstappen endured a difficult day during practice Friday for Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
Verstappen, the reigning champion and point leader, who has won four of the six races this season, could do no better than seventh during the second and final practice session of the day.
He characterized the effort as “bad,” but will get another crack at things with practice and qualifying set for Saturday at the famed Italian road course.
