MARINA BAY, Singapore — Lando Norris claimed pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix during Saturday night’s qualifying session at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The McLaren driver ran a best lap of one minute and 29.525 seconds to edge point leader Max Verstappen for the top starting spot in Sunday’s grand prix.
Verstappen’s Red Bull machine turned a lap of 1:29.728.
Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a solid run, putting Mercedes third on the grid and he’ll share the second row with his teammate George Russell.
Norris’ McLaren mate Oscar Piastri will start fifth.
Ferrari struggled with Carlos Sainz hitting the wall and ending up 10th, which put him one spot behind his teammate, Charles Leclerc.
It was a good day for Haas F-1 with Nico Hulkenburg taking the sixth qualifying spot.
